This wide neck conical flask (Erlenmeyer flask) is borosilicate 3.3 glass, in sizes from 100ml to 5 000ml. The wider mouth makes it easier to pour in liquids, add solids and get a brush inside to clean it, compared with a narrow neck flask.

Like every conical flask, it has a flat bottom, a conical body and a short, straight neck. The broad base keeps it stable on the bench and the sloping sides help stop splashes escaping when you swirl it, which is why conical flasks are also called titration flasks. The beaded rim can be stoppered or covered, and the flask carries graduations for an approximate volume.
