A plastic laboratory syringe is a disposable or reusable polypropylene barrel with a plunger, used to measure and dispense small volumes of liquid or gas precisely without a needle. In laboratory settings, syringes are used to inject samples into chromatography columns, dispense exact volumes of reagent, extract liquids from sealed vessels, and capture the volume of gas produced in a reaction. The luer tip at the barrel end connects to tubing, needles, or connectors via luer-slip or luer-lock fittings.

  • Precise liquid dispensing

    Syringes dispense exact volumes of reagent, solvent, or biological fluid into reaction vessels, assay wells, or chromatography columns. The graduated barrel allows the volume to be read directly, and the plunger gives fine control over the delivery rate.

  • Sample injection into columns

    A syringe injects liquid samples into gravity-fed chromatography columns, HPLC sample loops, or gas inlet ports for analysis. The fine luer tip allows a slow, controlled injection without disturbing the column bed.

  • Extracting liquids from sealed vessels

    A syringe draws liquid from a septum-sealed bottle or bag without exposing the contents to air, which is important when working with air-sensitive or volatile reagents. The tip is pushed through the septum and the plunger withdrawn to create a vacuum that draws the liquid into the barrel.
