What is a spotting plate?
A spotting plate is a small, flat porcelain tile moulded with a grid of shallow round wells, used to run several small-scale spot tests side by side without setting up full test tubes for each one. A drop of sample and a drop of reagent in each well is enough to observe a colour change or reaction.
SmartLabs also stocks porcelain combustion boats in this collection, a shallow, elongated tray used to hold solid samples during ignition or ashing in a furnace or over a flame. Both products share the same high-fired, glazed porcelain construction, giving reliable heat and chemical resistance for routine qualitative and thermal analysis work.
