What is a laboratory glass stopper?
A laboratory glass stopper is a solid plug made from borosilicate glass, used to seal the necks of bottles, flasks, and other glassware to prevent contamination, evaporation, and spillage. Glass stoppers are chemically inert, impermeable to gases and vapours, and compatible with virtually any laboratory chemical. Available in standardised taper sizes for volumetric flasks, reagent bottles, desiccators, and ground-glass jointed apparatus. Types include flat-top stoppers for general use, ground glass stoppers for airtight sealing, and hollow-bore stoppers for burettes and separating funnels.
