What are laboratory cleaning brushes?

A laboratory cleaning brush is a nylon or bristle head held in a twisted wire core, which is what lets it flex down a narrow bore without the head pulling out. The wire is normally stainless steel so it does not rust between washes.

Shape follows the vessel. A burette brush is long and barely wider than the bore. A beaker brush is short and splayed. Pipette brushes taper to reach a narrowing tip. The wrong diameter either scratches the glass or misses the residue.
