What is a stereo microscope?

A stereo microscope, also called a dissecting microscope, uses two separate optical paths angled slightly apart to produce a true three-dimensional image of a specimen. Unlike a compound microscope, it works at low magnification, usually 10x to 40x, with a long working distance below the objective lens so your hands have room to manipulate the sample directly.
