Heating Mantles
A heating mantle is a curved, insulated heater shaped to cradle a round-bottom flask, giving safe, even heat across the flask's rounded surface rather than concentrating it on a single flat point like a hotplate does. This reduces the risk of localised overheating and makes a mantle the standard heat source for reflux, distillation, and synthesis work.
