Electric Circuit Kits and Apparatus

An electric circuit kit holds everything needed to build a working circuit: wire, bulbs and holders, knife switches, resistors, cells and leads. You can buy the kit or just the part that went missing, which matters when it is the third set of crocodile leads this term.

Suits CAPS circuits work from primary right through to FET phase. Running the Ohm's Law practical? Our Grade 11 Ohm's Law guide walks through the method, the graphs and the free marking memo.

Circuit components on a bench below physics chalkboards

What is electricity equipment?

Electricity equipment covers the wire, bulbs, lamp holders and resistors used to build and test simple circuits in the classroom. These basic components let learners assemble series and parallel circuits by hand, watch a bulb light up, and measure how resistance changes current flow.

SmartLabs stocks bare and enamelled copper wire, nichrome and Eureka constantan resistance wire, bulbs and lamp holders, and other circuit-building components. Every item is sized and priced for repeated classroom use, from a single demonstration circuit to a full class set.

Common uses of electricity equipment in the classroom

From a single bulb circuit to full class sets.

  • A lit bulb wired in series to a battery holder on a bench

    Building Series Circuits

Wire, a bulb and a lamp holder are the basic building blocks for teaching learners how a simple series circuit works, from switch to battery to load.

  • An analogue voltmeter wired to a wire reel with crocodile clips

    Resistance Investigations

Nichrome and Eureka constantan wire let learners investigate how length, thickness and material affect electrical resistance, a core FET Physical Sciences practical.

  • Reels of copper wire and a multimeter with test leads on a bench

    Conductors & Insulators

Different wire types support classic conductor and insulator testing, helping learners classify materials by how well they carry an electric current.

  • A lit bulb and battery holder wired on a plywood circuit board

    Circuit Board Demonstrations

Mounting a bulb, holder and wiring on a simple board gives teachers a reusable demonstration circuit for whole-class lessons.
