What is an evaporating dish?
An evaporating dish is a shallow, wide-mouthed porcelain vessel with a pouring lip, designed to expose the maximum surface area of a liquid to air or gentle heat. That large open surface is what speeds up evaporation, making it the standard tool for concentrating solutions, recrystallising salts, and drying samples to a solid residue.
SmartLabs stocks porcelain evaporating dishes and basins in a range of sizes, from small dishes for quick classroom crystallisation demonstrations to larger basins for bulk solvent evaporation. Every dish is glazed on the outside and unglazed on the inside base, giving a durable finish with reliable heat resistance for direct flame or water bath use.
