Laboratory Plastic Bottles

Laboratory plastic bottles are used for storing reagents, distilled water, solvents, and chemical solutions in school chemistry labs, university teaching labs, and professional laboratory environments across South Africa. Our range includes polypropylene and polyethylene bottles in screw-cap, dropper, and wash bottle styles across a wide range of volumes.

Unlike glass, laboratory plastic bottles are impact-resistant and unbreakable, making them safer for daily use in busy school labs and field work. Polypropylene bottles offer excellent chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, and most organic solvents.

SmartLabs supplies laboratory plastic bottles to schools and labs across South Africa. Browse our range for reliable, affordable plastic reagent and wash bottles with fast delivery from Boksburg.

What is a laboratory plastic bottle?

A laboratory plastic bottle is a narrow-neck container with a screw or push-on cap, made from HDPE, LDPE, or polypropylene, designed for storing, transporting, and dispensing laboratory chemicals, reagents, and biological samples. Unlike glass bottles, plastic bottles are shatterproof, lightweight, and unaffected by most dilute acids and alkalis at room temperature.

SmartLabs stocks plastic laboratory bottles from small 5 ml squeezable dropper bottles to large 5 000 ml aspirator bottles with outlet taps, covering everyday reagent storage, wash bottles, dispensing, and field sample collection in South African schools and research labs.

Common uses of plastic laboratory bottles in the lab

Plastic laboratory bottles serve essential roles across a wide range of laboratory and teaching applications.

  • Chemical reagent storage

    Chemical reagent storage

Dilute acids, bases, staining solutions, and buffer preparations are stored safely in HDPE or PP bottles. The screw cap creates a leak-proof seal that prevents evaporation and contamination during storage between experiments.

  • Wash bottle dispensing

    Wash bottle dispensing

Squeezable LDPE wash bottles deliver a controlled stream of distilled water or rinsing solvent for washing glassware, rinsing filter funnels, and diluting spills on the bench without wasting reagent.

  • Field sample collection

    Field sample collection

Wide-mouth plastic sample bottles collect water, soil extracts, and biological specimens in the field where glass breakage would be hazardous. HDPE is chemically inert and does not leach ions into aqueous samples.

  • Dropper bottle dispensing

    Dropper bottle dispensing

Small squeezable dropper bottles deliver indicator solutions, stains, and reagents dropwise into test vessels. The narrow dropper tip gives precise control over the volume added per drop.
