What is a vortex mixer?
A vortex mixer is a compact benchtop device with a small rubber cup on top that spins in a tight circular motion. Pressing a tube against the cup, or engaging continuous mode, creates a rapid swirling vortex inside the tube that mixes small volumes in seconds.
SmartLabs stocks vortex mixers designed for microcentrifuge tubes and small test tubes, the standard tool for quick mixing in molecular biology, clinical, and general chemistry work. Unlike a magnetic stirrer, a vortex mixer suits short bursts of intense mixing rather than continuous stirring over time.
