This bare copper wire comes on 250g reels in ten thicknesses, from thick 14 SWG (2.00mm) down to thin 32 SWG (0.28mm). There's no insulation on it, so you can clip onto it anywhere along its length, which is exactly what you want for school electricity and resistance experiments.

Wire thickness is usually given as a Standard Wire Gauge, or SWG. The higher the gauge number, the thinner the wire, and a thinner wire has more resistance to the flow of current. Run the same circuit with a few different gauges and learners can see for themselves how the diameter of a wire changes its resistance.
