A graduated cylinder, also known as measuring cylinder or mixing cylinder is a common piece of laboratory equipment used to measure the volume of a liquid. It has a narrow cylindrical shape. Each marked line on the graduated cylinder represents the amount of liquid that has been measured.OMSONS Class B Measuring Cylinders with Round Bases are the workhorse instruments of the laboratory. They are designed for general-purpose liquid measurement where standard accuracy is sufficient and high-volume durability is required.

Key Deatures
  • Accuracy Grade: Class B (standard tolerance), usually twice the limit of Class A.
  • Material: High-quality Borosilicate 3.3 glass, providing excellent resistance to heat and aggressive chemicals.
  • Base Design: Traditional Round Glass Base, offering a classic look and easy cleaning.
  • Standard Compliance: Manufactured in accordance with ISO 4788 or IS:878.
  • Printing: Typically features permanent Blue enamel graduations that remain legible even after repeated washing.
  • Calibration: Calibrated "to contain" (TC/In) at a reference temperature (usually 27°C).
  • Pro Tip: Because the round base is more prone to rolling if tipped over, many labs use plastic safety bumpers (guard rings) around the neck to prevent the glass from hitting the bench.
Capacity and Tolerance (Class B)

Capacity (ml)  Graduation (ml) Tolerance (± ml)
5 ml 0.1 ml 0.1 ml
10 ml 0.2 ml 0.2 ml
25 ml 0.5 ml 0.5 ml
50 ml 1.0 ml 1.0 ml
100 ml 1.0 ml 1.0 ml
250 ml 2.0 ml 2.0 ml
500 ml 5.0 ml 5.0 ml
1000 ml 10.0 ml 10.0 ml

Applications
  • General Mixing: Ideal for measuring out solvents or buffers where a 1%–2% margin of error is acceptable.
  • Education: The most common choice for school and undergraduate labs due to the lower cost compared to Class A.
  • Industrial Use: Used for routine volumetric checks in manufacturing processes that don't require certified analytical precision.
