Human Sperm Model

This 3D model of a human sperm cell is greatly magnified, giving a visual and hands-on way to study the structure and function of its different parts: the head, midpiece, tail, centriole, mitochondria, outer dense fibers and axial filament. It gives a more complete picture of how these components work together during fertilisation.

The head contains the sperm's nucleus, which carries its genetic material (DNA). The midpiece connects the head to the tail and houses the mitochondria, which supply the energy (ATP) the sperm needs for its journey to the egg. The tail is the long, whip-like structure that propels the sperm forward.

The centriole plays a role in cell division after fertilisation and in how the sperm's tail develops. The outer dense fibers provide structural support for the tail, while the axial filament forms its core and enables movement.

The model is mounted on a base for stability and display, and comes with an English key card to identify the numbered structures. It's hand-painted for accurate colouring and detail.
