Moh's Hardness Testing Pencil
This set of hardness testing pencils covers Mohs hardness 3 to 9, each a mineral embedded in a brass holder with a wooden handle, supplied in a boxed set with notes.
One of the most important tests for identifying mineral specimens is the Mohs Hardness Test, which compares a mineral's resistance to being scratched against ten reference minerals on the Mohs Hardness Scale. Because most specimens of a given mineral are very close to the same hardness, it's a reliable diagnostic property for most minerals.
