Scissors Metzenbaum

Metzenbaum scissors are made for blunt dissection and for cutting delicate and fine tissues. They let a surgeon work in deep tissues without being hindered by wide-opening scissor blades, and surgeons use them for incising the deep rib bed periosteal layer. This is the most common type of scissors used in organ-related operations.

These dissecting scissors come in variable lengths and have a relatively long shank-to-blade ratio. They are constructed of stainless steel and may have tungsten carbide cutting surface inserts. The blades can be curved or straight, and the tips are usually blunt.
