The Omsons Straight Vacuum Receiver Adapter designed for laboratory distillation setups. It connects a condenser to a receiving flask while providing a side-arm for vacuum or inert gas connection. It essentially acts as a "bridge" that adds a vacuum port to a stack that otherwise wouldn't have one.
Application
- Filtration: If you have a standard Buchner funnel and a plain Erlenmeyer flask (neither of which has a side-arm), placing this adapter between them instantly converts the setup for vacuum filtration.
- Vertical Distillation: In setups where space is tight or the configuration is strictly vertical, it allows you to pull a vacuum directly above the receiving flask without needing a specialized "bent" vacuum receiver or a side-arm condenser.
Because it includes a drip tip inside the lower joint, it also ensures that your liquid drops straight down into the center of the bottom flask rather than running down the grounded glass joints, which prevents sticking or contamination.
