Class "B" volumetric flask is a piece of laboratory glassware used for preparing solutions for general lab use, educational purposes, and qualitative work. The Class “B" designation indicates that the flask a lower precision than Class “A” with a tolerance about twice that of Class “A” and the Class “B” flask is not supplied with a certificate.

A volumetric flask (measuring flask or graduated flask) is a laboratory flask, calibrated to contain a precise volume at a certain temperature. Volumetric flasks are used for precise dilutions and preparation of standard solutions. These flasks are usually pear-shaped with a flat bottom. The flask's mouth is fitted with a joint to accommodate a compatible stopper. The neck of volumetric flasks is elongated and narrow with an etched ring graduation marking. The marking indicates the volume of liquid contained when filled up to that point. The marking is typically calibrated "to contain" (marked "TC" or "IN") at 20 °C and indicated correspondingly on a label. The flask's label also indicates the nominal volume, tolerance, precision class, relevant manufacturing.

Key Characteristics

Accuracy and Precision: Class A flasks are the most accurately available for general laboratory use. They have tighter tolerance limits than Class B flasks.
Standards: Their specifications must conform to international standards such as ISO 104.
Tolerance Limits: The maximum permissible error in volume for a Class A flask is very small.
Calibration: They are individually calibrated to contain (TC, or In) a specific volume at a standard temperature, typically 20 °C.
Certification: They often come with a certificate of conformity or calibration to guarantee their accuracy.

Features

Marking: Each flask has a single graduation mark (a line around the neck) indicating the precise volume it holds when filled correctly (with the bottom of the meniscus aligned with the mark).
Stopper: Plastic Stopper
Material: Borosilicate glass for chemical resistance
