OMSONS Petri Dishes are reusable laboratory culture vessels manufactured from high-grade Borosilicate 3.3 glass. Unlike disposable plastic versions, these heavy-duty dishes are designed for repeated use and can withstand harsh sterilization protocols.
- Material: Made from Borosilicate 3.3 low-expansion glass, offering excellent clarity and resistance to thermal shock.
-
Design:
- Set: Supplied as a complete set including the shallow dish and a matching cover.
- Beaded Edges: Feature reinforced beaded rims to impart greater mechanical strength and reduce the risk of breakage.
- Sterilisation: Fully autoclavable at 121°C and resistant to repeated wet or dry sterilisation cycles.
- Chemical Resistance: Highly resistant to water, acids, salt solutions, and organic solvents
-
Exceptional Sterilisability: Can endure repeated wet sterilisation (autoclaving) at
121°C or dry heat sterilisation in ovens up to180°C without cracking or degrading.
- Durability: Reinforced beaded edges provide mechanical strength, reducing the risk of chipping or breaking during handling.
- Eco-Friendly & Cost-Effective: While they require a higher initial investment, they significantly reduce lab waste and long-term costs compared to single-use plastics.
Primary Applications
- Microbiology: Ideal for growing and observing bacteria, fungi, and yeast on agar surfaces. Their high transparency allows for detailed inspection of colony morphology and growth patterns without optical distortion.
- Plant Tissue Culture: Used for seed germination and observing the early stages of root and shoot development in a sterile environment.
- Cell Culture: Provides a secure, enclosed environment for the growth of various cell types.
- Education & Research: Preferred for classroom demonstrations and high-level research due to their ability to withstand repeated use and harsh experimental conditions.
- Specialised Biological Work: Used in mycology for identifying contaminants in mycelium cultures.
