Essential Oil Determination Apparatus (Clevenger Apparatus)

The OMSONS Essential Oil Determination Apparatus (Clevenger Apparatus) for oils heavier than water  is a precision distillation kit designed to extract and quantify volatile oils that sink in water.

• Boiling Flask (1000 ml): A round-bottom flask with a 24/29 ground glass joint for robust heating.
• Liebig Condenser (300 mm): Featuring 24/29 joints to facilitate effective vapor cooling.
• Heavier-than-Water Receiver (5 ml): A specialized graduated trap with a stopcock. Unlike the "light" version, this design allows for the automatic return of the lighter water phase to the boiling flask while the dense oil collects at the bottom. 

1. Steam Distillation: The plant sample is boiled in the 1000 ml flask, carrying volatile oils upward as steam.
2. Condensation: Vapors are cooled in the 300 mm Liebig condenser and fall into the graduated receiver.
3. Automatic Separation: Because these specific oils are denser than water, they settle at the bottom of the trap. The lighter water phase overflows through a return arm back into the boiling flask for continuous extraction.
4. Measurement: The volume of the collected oil is read directly from the graduated scale on the receiver.
