Microscope Student Kit

The microscope can magnify microscope slides up to 40x, 100x and 400x using the 10x eyepiece or 64x, 160x and 640x using the 16x eyepiece as supplied with the microscope and has two sources of light, one LED light on the base of the microscope and one LED light on the neck of the microscope. The microscope can be powered by either an AC adapter that is included in the kit or three 1.5 V batteries (batteries not included) enabling the student to use the microscope in-the-field. The kit also includes a microscope camera that can be connected to a computer for capturing images or showing the slide to students through a digital projector. The kit includes a variety of basic equipment required to create your own slides as well as five pre-prepared slides in a slide box all supplied in a rugged plastic case. A must have for any student interested in microscopy.

What magnification does the Microscope Student Kit reach?

40x, 100x and 400x with the 10x eyepiece. Swap in the 16x eyepiece and you get 64x, 160x and 640x. Both eyepieces come in the kit.

Does it need a plug point?

Only if you use the AC adapter, which comes in the kit. It also runs on three 1.5 V batteries (not included), so learners can take it outside for fieldwork.

Can I show the slide on a computer or projector?

Yes. The kit includes an MD10 digital eyepiece camera with software. Plug it into a computer to capture images, or put the slide up on a projector for the whole class. It can't be used as a document camera.

Which grades is it for?

It's a good first microscope for home use and for Grade 4 to 9 Natural Sciences. If you need higher magnification, our 1000x microscopes are the next step up.
