This Buchner funnel has a sintered (fritted) G3 glass disc, a standard ground-glass cone stem and a built-in vacuum hose barb. It's designed for vacuum filtration where you need a secure, airtight connection to a filtering flask.

  • Body and disc: Quality borosilicate 3.3 glass, known for its chemical resistance and thermal stability.
  • Joint type: A standard ground joint (conical cone) on the stem fits straight into lab flasks.
  • Design: Heavy-walled construction that safely handles the pressure difference during vacuum filtration.
  • Vacuum hose barb: A hose barb (tubulation socket) is built into the stem so you can connect flexible vacuum tubing.
  • Recommended tubing I.D.: 6mm to 8mm
  • Barb outer diameter (O.D.): 8mm to 10mm
  • Tapered barb: The barb is slightly conical. The tip is usually 1 to 2mm smaller than the base, so tubing slides on easily and then seals tightly.
  • Choosing tubing: Pick tubing with an internal diameter (I.D.) that's 1 to 2mm smaller than the widest point of the barb.
  • Pressure rating: For vacuum work, use heavy-wall vacuum tubing (usually rubber or silicone) so it doesn't collapse under suction.

Usage Limitations

To avoid damaging the sintered glass disc, don't use these funnels with:

  • Hydrofluoric acid (HF).
  • Hot concentrated phosphoric acid.
  • Hot concentrated alkaline solutions.
