This vacuum filtration apparatus is an all-glass solvent filtration set for separating a solid from a liquid under vacuum. It has a 300ml funnel on a borosilicate glass filter plate with 30 to 50μm pores, and you can choose a 500ml, 1 000ml, 2 000ml or 5 000ml collecting flask.

A vacuum pulls the liquid through the filter, leaving the solid behind. It's far quicker than gravity filtration, which helps with large volumes, and it pulls extra moisture out of the solid so you end up with a drier product. It's especially useful for collecting a solid that has precipitated or crystallised out of a large volume of solvent, and it separates very fine particles better than gravity filtration.

The set takes 47 to 60mm membrane filters and handles a wide range of liquids, from water-based solutions to thicker, more viscous ones.
