Binocular Compound Light Microscope, 1000x Double Layer Stage

This general use microscope has a double layer mechanical stage with a binocular eyepiece head and uses a halogen lamp for illumination. The microscope is fitted with four achromatic objectives 4x, 10x, 40x and 100x (oil) that allows for user to magnify the specimen up to a total magnification of 1000x. The double layer stage allows for ease of movement and the microscope features a coaxial coarse and fine adjustment focusing range of 20mm.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I see at 1000x?

Bacteria, blood cells and fine detail inside cells. The 100x objective is an oil immersion lens, so put a drop of immersion oil between the slide and the lens or the image will stay blurry.

Is it suitable for Grade 10 to 12 Life Sciences?

Yes. With 40x to 1000x it handles the cell and tissue slides used in CAPS, IEB and Cambridge Life Sciences practicals.

Does it work without electricity?

No. It uses a 6 V 20 W halogen lamp that runs off 220 V mains, so you need a plug point. For a battery option, look at our battery-operated 1000x microscopes.

Why choose binocular over monocular?

You look with both eyes, which is far less tiring over a long practical. The head also rotates 360°, so learners on either side of the bench can use it.
