This OMSONS coil condenser has PTFE screw thread connectors. A coil (spiral or Graham) condenser cools a gas and condenses it back to a liquid, often as part of chemical distillation. The gas travels through a coiled glass tube surrounded by a water jacket that cools it. Spiral designs transfer heat very efficiently for their compact size.

It's recommended for low-viscosity distillations such as alcohol, and works best mounted vertically.

Design: A central glass spiral inside an outer jacket. The large surface area of the coil makes heat exchange more efficient.

Joints: Precision ground, interchangeable glass joints give a vacuum-tight fit.

Tips for Use

  • Coolant flow: Always connect the water inlet to the lower connector and the outlet to the upper one. This keeps the jacket completely full of coolant for the best efficiency.
  • Orientation: For low-viscosity processes like alcohol distillation, use the condenser vertically.
  • Safety: The condenser is autoclavable, but remove all tubing and make sure the joints aren't seized before sterilising.
