Convection in Water

The Convection in Water apparatus is a simple, effective demonstration tool that helps students see how heat energy moves through liquids. It's made from durable 20mm borosilicate glass tubing, so this rectangular convection tube is clear and resists thermal shock, which makes it good for repeated classroom use.

A fitted filling funnel makes it easy to add water and dye, so you can watch the convection currents clearly as the liquid heats up. The apparatus is supplied as the tube only and needs standard laboratory clamps to hold it during demonstrations. At a compact 200 x 150mm, it suits both student experiments and teacher-led demonstrations.

Key Features

• Shows convection currents in liquids clearly
• Made from robust 20mm borosilicate glass tubing for good heat resistance

Ideal for School Science Lessons

This apparatus is a great way to introduce students to heat transfer by convection in liquids. It supports topics including:

• How heat energy transfers through liquids
• Showing how hot water rises and cooler water sinks
• Exploring density changes during heating
• Practical lessons on thermal physics
• Keeping students engaged with a clear visual experiment

Whether you use it for a whole-class demonstration or a small-group investigation, the Convection in Water apparatus is a reliable way to teach the key principles of heat transfer in the school science lab.
