Coplin jars made out of heat resistant plastic with screw caps are versatile laboratory vessels used primarily for staining, washing, or storing up to 5 microscope slides. The screw cap design is specifically valued for creating a leak-proof seal that prevents solvent evaporation and protects samples from contamination during storage.
Key Features
- Slide Capacity: Most jars feature 5 internal molded slots that hold 5 slides individually or up to 10 slides back-to-back.
- Closure: A linerless polypropylene screw cap (often white or black) ensures a tight seal. Some models, such as the Scienceware jar, include a domed cap with deep threads and a seal ring.
- Dimensions: Standard jars have an internal depth of approximately 90mm and a rectangular base for stability.
- Heat Resistance: Autoclavable at 121°C
- Material: High-density polypropylene (PP), Shatter-resistance and durability
