This flask cork ring is a stand that keeps round-bottom flasks and other spherical glassware steady on a flat surface. Round-bottom flasks can't stand on their own, so the ring gives them a secure, non-slip base.

Main Uses

  • Stability: Stops round-bottom flasks rolling, tipping or falling over on the bench.
  • Heat protection: Protects work surfaces from hot glassware taken straight off a Bunsen burner or heating mantle.
  • Protection: Cushions expensive glassware and removes stress points that could crack it.
  • Bench organisation: A safe resting place for flasks during weighing, drying or between reaction steps.

Key Features

  • Material: Usually agglomerated (compressed) natural cork, which is light, resistant to most organic solvents and biodegradable.
  • Design: Cylindrical with a hollow centre, and usually a bevelled inner edge that fits the curve of a spherical flask.
  • Heat resistance: Typically handles up to 200°C, so it's safe for hot glassware and oven or autoclave sterilisation.
  • Sizes: Rings are sized by outer diameter (OD) and inner diameter (ID) to suit different flasks:
    • Small (about 80mm OD): For 10ml to 100ml flasks.
    • Medium (about 110mm OD): For 250ml to 500ml flasks.
    • Large (about 140mm OD): For 500ml to 2000ml flasks.
    • Extra large (170mm+ OD): For 3000ml to 12000ml flasks.
