Distilling Head glass Claisen distillation adapter, a piece of laboratory glassware used in distillation and reaction setups. A Claisen Distillation Adapter is a multi-purpose "Y-shaped" glass connector that adds an extra vertical neck to a distillation setup. Usage Tips
  • Vapour Path: Place the thermometer in the neck closest to the angled side-arm to get the most accurate reading of the vapours actually entering the condenser.
  • Safety: Because Claisen adapters are top-heavy, ensure the boiling flask and the condenser are both independently supported by retort stands and clamps.
  • Sealing: Apply a light coating of vacuum grease to all joints to ensure an airtight seal, especially during vacuum-assisted experiments.
