This double necked flask (two neck boiling flask, or two neck round-bottom flask) is made of borosilicate glass. The joint neck allows connection to distillation apparatus or other glassware adapters, and the angled neck is useful for refilling or inserting a thermometer with a thermometer adapter. We recommend using Glassware Joint Clips to hold glassware connectors, adapters and distillation connectors firmly in place while in use.

It's made from high-duty Borosilicate 3.3 glass for excellent thermal shock resistance, with interchangeable ground glass conical joints (sockets) for vacuum-tight connections. Capacities commonly range from 100ml up to 20,000ml (20L), with typical joint size combinations such as a 24/29 centre with 19/26 side joints.

OMSONS offers two neck orientations. Angular necks have a vertical centre neck with the two side necks 180° apart and inclined at a 20° angle, ideal for adding reagents via dropping funnels or inserting thermometers without interfering with a central condenser. Parallel necks have the centre neck and both side necks vertical and parallel, often preferred for mechanical stirring where multiple vertical shafts or probes are needed.

The three necks support a range of uses. The 20° tilt of the side neck gives extra room to attach bulky equipment, like a large dropping funnel, without it hitting apparatus in the centre neck. The angled side neck also makes it easier to add liquids or powders manually while the flask sits under a fume hood or inside a heating mantle, and is the preferred design for inserting thermometers or gas inlet tubes, since the angle lets the probe reach toward the centre of the flask's boiling liquid.

When using a mechanical overhead stirrer, always use the centre neck for the stirring shaft, and keep the angular side necks for stationary items like gas inlets or temperature probes to avoid interference with the rotating shaft.
