This 500ml Soxhlet extraction apparatus has an Allihn (bulb) condenser for efficient reflux and solid-liquid extraction. It's made from 3.3 borosilicate glass and is a standard setup in industry and academia for isolating lipids, total fats and semi-volatile organic compounds. The multi-bulb condenser increases the condensation surface without restricting the flow of solvent vapour.

  • Capacity: 500ml of solvent, measured up to the siphon overflow point.
  • Glass: Heavy-wall 3.3 borosilicate glass (USP Type I, Class A).
  • Thermal performance: A low linear expansion coefficient (3.3 x 10⁻⁶ K⁻¹), thermal shock resistance up to 120°C and a maximum operating temperature of 250°C.
  • Condenser: Heavy-duty Allihn style with a multi-bulb inner chamber that increases vapour contact and prevents flooding.
  • Upper joint: 50/40 or 55/50 female standard taper joint at the top of the extractor body.
  • Lower joint: 24/40 or 29/32 male standard taper joint at the base of the extractor body.
  • Thimbles: Sized for standard 43 x 123mm or 45 x 130mm cellulose or fritted glass extraction thimbles.
  • Hose connections: Serrated glass side arms for cooling tubing of 8mm to 10mm inner diameter.
  • Chemical resistance: Inert and compatible with common extraction solvents such as hexane, acetone, petroleum ether and ethanol.
