This two-neck round bottom flask has an angled (oblique) side neck and is made from borosilicate 3.3 glass, which gives it good resistance to thermal shock and chemical corrosion.

Key Features

  • Material: Borosilicate 3.3 glass.
  • Design: A round bottom for even heating, and angled side necks for fitting condensers, thermometers and other apparatus. The spherical bottom also handles vacuum better, because the stress is spread more evenly than in a flat-bottom flask.
  • Ground joints: Standard taper ground necks for leak-proof connections with other ground glass equipment.
  • Thermal properties: Strain point 520°C, softening point 820°C, thermal shock resistance up to 300°C.
  • Stability: Because of the round base, the flask can't stand on its own. Use a cork ring, flask stand or clamp when it isn't part of an assembled setup.
  • Temperature monitoring: A thermometer or probe can go in through an angled neck (often with an adapter or thermometer pocket) to measure the temperature inside without breaking the seal.

  • Reflux: As the reaction vessel with a condenser attached.
