This greatly magnified cardiac muscle model shows the internal microanatomy of cardiac muscle fibers. The cell membrane, sarcomere myofibrils and sarcoplasmic reticulum are all represented. It suits advanced biology and medical students, and educators can use it in lessons on muscular functionality, cardiac physiology and the basis of heart functionality.
A cardiac muscle fiber is composed of several structures: the sarcolemma (cell membrane), myofibrils (containing sarcomeres) and sarcoplasmic reticulum. These structures work together to enable the coordinated contractions of the heart muscle.
The model is hand-painted for accurate colouring and detailing, and is supplied with a numbered English key card to identify the structures.
