This human skin model is used for anatomical study, and is 70X life size for display of dermatological structures. The model depicts the three layers of the skin and internal structures for detailed examination, including the sebaceous and sweat glands, hair follicles, erector muscles, arteries, nerves, and veins. The model is hand-painted for accurate representation, and is numbered and includes a key card for identifying features. The model is mounted on a base for demonstration purposes, and is made of durable polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic-coated fiberglass. PVC plastic is corrosion resistant, lightweight, and has high strength, resisting reactions with acids, gasoline, alcohol, and hydrocarbons. Fiberglass contains many extremely fine glass fibers in a plastic composite, and is commonly used for its strength, non-reactivity, and to insulate against sound, heat, and electricity. The model is suitable for high school or college students..

Skin Layers:

  • Epidermis: The outermost layer, a protective barrier composed of multiple layers of epithelial cells.
  • Dermis: The middle layer, containing connective tissue, blood vessels, nerves, and appendages like hair follicles and glands.
  • Subcutaneous Tissue (Hypodermis): The deepest layer, composed of fat and connective tissue, providing insulation and padding.

Internal Structures:

  • Sebaceous Glands: Produce sebum, an oily substance that lubricates and waterproofs the skin and hair.
  • Sweat Glands: Produce sweat, which helps regulate body temperature.
  • Hair Follicles: Structures from which hair grows.
  • Erector Pili Muscles: Small muscles attached to hair follicles that contract to make hairs stand on end (goosebumps).
  • Arteries and Veins: Part of the circulatory system, transporting blood to and from the skin.
  • Nerves: Transmit sensory information (touch, temperature, pain) from the skin to the brain.

Key Card: Supplied with an English key card to identify the numbered structures, making the model a valuable asset for interactive educational purpose.

Hand-painted: The model is hand-painted, which allows for accurate coloring and detailing.
