Pestle and Mortar Sets, Procelain

This porcelain mortar and pestle set grinds and crushes solids into a fine powder or a paste, in the lab, the pharmacy or the kitchen. It's a white OMSONS set, and you can choose from five sizes between 75 x 48mm and 200 x 140mm.

The mortar is the bowl that holds the material, and the pestle is the blunt club you grind with. Pound and roll the pestle against the inside of the mortar until the material breaks down to the texture you want.

The grinding surface is left unglazed on purpose. Its slightly rough texture grips the material and breaks it down much better than a smooth glazed finish would, since a glazed surface is too slippery to grind and mix well.

In the lab you'll use it to grind solid samples and chemicals. Pharmacies have prepared medicines this way for centuries, and cooks use it for spices, herbs and pastes like pesto.
