A piezo buzzer gives a loud, steady beep as soon as DC power reaches it. It's the usual sound part for alarm circuits, warning signals and school electronics projects.

Two AA cells (3V) are enough to drive it, and a 9V battery works too. Watch the polarity: like most active buzzers, it only sounds when the positive lead goes to the positive side of the supply.
