The plain still head (distillation head) is the central hub of a standard distillation assembly, connecting the boiling flask, the thermometer, and the condenser.

It's made of high quality, heavy duty 3.3 borosilicate glass, with high resistance to thermal shock and aggressive chemicals. The B14 thermometer socket inlet means the thermometer or top inlet is 14/23, while the B19 version means the thermometer or top inlet is 19/26 - the socket accepts a thermometer via a Thermometer Adapter.

The side cone is angled so distillate flows efficiently into a downward-sloping condenser, and interchangeable ground glass joints give a vacuum-tight seal.

Usage tip: to get an accurate boiling point reading, position your thermometer so the bulb sits just below the level of the side-arm junction. This keeps the thermometer fully immersed in the rising vapour before it enters the condenser.
