The Microlit Rambo Variable Volume Micropipette is a high-precision liquid handling instrument specifically engineered to optimize accuracy by addressing air compression errors in practical laboratory environments.

The Volume Adjustment Knob on the Microlit Rambo Micropipette is integrated directly into the plunger button, allowing you to rapidly spin and dial in your target volume with a single hand. This smooth, effortless rotation significantly reduces setup time between different sample runs.

How It Works
  • Speed and Fluidity: The internal gearing allows you to sweep through the pipette's entire volume spectrum with minimal turns, preventing wrist fatigue during frequent adjustments.
  • Plunger Integration: The knob serves a dual purpose as both the volume dial and the aspiration/dispensing plunger, keeping your hand in a natural, stationary ergonomic position.
  • Frictionless Design: The mechanism rotates smoothly without stiff resistance, meaning you do not have to fight heavy internal tension to change settings.

Preventing Volumetric Drifting
While the knob turns effortlessly, it works in tandem with the pipette's mechanical detent (click-lock) system. Once you stop spinning and set your target volume, the internal spring-and-ball mechanism locks the digits securely in place. This ensures that the effortless rotation does not cause accidental volume shifting while you are pressing down to aspirate or blowout your liquids.

Mechanics of μAir® Technology
Air displacement pipettes rely on an internal cushion of air to move liquid. In standard pipettes, a large "dead air space" exists between the internal piston and the attached pipette tip. This air compresses and expands based on ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure, leading to delivery discrepancies.
  • Dead Space Minimization: The patented μAir® design reduces physical gaps between the internal piston assembly and the tip cone.
  • Compression Resistance: By narrowing this internal volume, the air cushion behaves more rigidly under pressure.
  • Practical Accuracy: The user achieves stable, repeatable volumes regardless of normal fluctuations in laboratory environments.

Core Product Features
  • Advanced Volumetric Security: Utilizes a spring- and ball-based digit change mechanism. This mechanical detent system locks your settings firmly in place, preventing accidental volume drifting during high-velocity pipetting cycles.
  • Ergonomic Force Reduction: Minimizes repetitive strain injuries (RSI) with a low-pressure plunger mechanism. Operating forces span roughly 3–5 Newtons for the initial fluid aspiration step and 10–14 Newtons for the final blow-out stage.
  • Universal Compatibility: Features a universally tapered tip cone. While optimized for Microlit ProTips, the geometry accommodates almost all internationally standard universal-fit pipette tips without jamming.
  • Decontamination Capabilities: The device is completely autoclavable. It can be exposed intact to steam sterilization at 121°C and 15 psi for 15 to 20 minutes without altering its pre-calibrated factory specifications.
  • Structural Durability: Wrapped in high-grade polypropylene housing. This exterior shield keeps the tool lightweight while resisting chemical stains, everyday laboratory scratches, and drop damage.
