Splash-proof bulb (also commonly known as a Kjeldahl bulb or splash head) is a safety component used in distillation and nitrogen determination setups. Its primary function is to prevent entrained liquid droplets (carry-over) from the boiling flask from reaching the condenser, which would otherwise contaminate the distillate.
