This plant tissue model displays three types of permanent tissue: simple, compound and glandular. It is presented on a base, with an English key card included for identification.

By examining the different types of cells and their organisation within each tissue, students can gain a better understanding of plant structure, function and adaptation.

  • Simple permanent tissues: composed of one type of cell, these tissues perform basic functions like support and storage. Examples include parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma.
  • Compound permanent tissues: these consist of multiple cell types working together, such as xylem and phloem, which transport water and nutrients respectively.
  • Glandular permanent tissues: specialised tissues that secrete substances like nectar, resins or latex.
