A Büchner flask (Buchner flask) is a thick-walled conical flask with a short side arm on the neck, and it's the collecting flask for vacuum filtration. You'll also hear it called a filter flask, filtering flask, suction flask, side-arm flask, Kitasato flask or Bunsen flask. This one is OMSONS borosilicate 3.3 glass, in 500ml, 1 000ml, 2 000ml and 5 000ml.

Thick tubing pushes onto the 10mm side arm and runs to a vacuum source such as a water aspirator or vacuum pump. A Büchner funnel sits in the neck, sealed with a drilled rubber bung or a rubber filter cone. Under vacuum the liquid (the filtrate) is pulled through the filter paper into the flask, and the solid stays on the paper in the funnel. The thick walls are what let the flask hold a vacuum safely.

You can also put one in a vacuum line as a trap, so no liquid gets carried over between the vacuum pump and your apparatus.
