This narrow neck conical flask (Erlenmeyer flask) is borosilicate 3.3 glass with white enamel graduations, and you can buy it in ten sizes from 25ml to 5 000ml. It's also called a titration flask, because the shape makes it easy to swirl a solution without spilling during a titration.

The wide, flat base gives a low centre of gravity, so it's much harder to knock over than a round bottom flask or a tall measuring cylinder, and it heats evenly. The sloping sides throw splashes back down towards the base, and the narrow neck cuts down evaporation and is easy to close with a rubber stopper or a cotton wool plug. The neck also holds a filter funnel and fits standard lab clamps.

The white enamel scale gives an approximate volume, so use a measuring cylinder or volumetric glassware when you need an exact measurement.
